Hyderabad / Gadwal: N Ramchander Rao, head of the Telangana State BJP, criticized the Congress government for not addressing public issues since taking office. He pointed out their failure to keep promises and manage key concerns like agriculture support and student safety, while also lacking accountability.

In Wanaparthy, after meeting party members, Rao encouraged BJP workers to aim for victory in the upcoming elections. He mentioned that people are disappointed with the current government. “Since voting Congress, citizens have faced hardships, with no relief from the government,” he stated.

Rao questioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy‘s comments about the government’s financial trouble, including salary payment issues. He asked about the unfulfilled promises and urged job creation for families displaced by irrigation projects, criticizing inadequate compensation.

On agriculture, Rao criticized the state’s handling of fertilizer distribution and challenged Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao to discuss urea shortages. He claimed that under the Union government, Telangana received more urea than needed: “The Centre supplied 12.02 lakh metric tonnes, exceeding the 9.5 lakh metric tonnes required, with an extra 2.5 lakh metric tonnes this year,” he highlighted.

Despite the surplus, Rao alleged ongoing fertilizer scarcity due to state government failures. He accused local officials of allowing middlemen to divert fertilizers to the black market. “The government blames others and confuses farmers while falsely accusing the Centre,” Rao said, demanding Congress leaders address their “gross negligence.”

During visits to several districts, including Gadwal, a key cotton seed producer, Rao pointed out weaknesses in agricultural infrastructure and insufficient farmer support. He claimed this issue is unique to Telangana, as other states reportedly do not face fertilizer shortages, challenging Minister Tummala to a public debate and urging farmers to seek answers.

Rao also addressed student safety after visiting girls affected by a suspected food poisoning incident at Gurukul schools in Uyyalawada, Nagarkurnool. He blamed government negligence for such incidents and called for a thorough investigation into food quality and sanitation in hostels. Reports showed 115 female students suffered stomach pain and vomiting after dinner, leading to hospital visits and further medical care for several.

He urged the government to check the quality of rice, milk, and other supplies provided to students and implement strong measures to prevent future occurrences.

In Gadwal, BJP leaders like DK Aruna Garu and Dr. Sigdha Reddy joined Rao to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s “Mann Ki Baat,” showing party unity amid calls for accountability. With the BJP ramping up its campaign across Telangana, Rao’s statements are expected to heighten tensions before the local body elections.
