Hyderabad: N. Ramchander Rao, President of Telangana State BJP, called on party members to prepare for a strong protest against the Congress government’s policies. He claims it has not honored its election promises.
During his visit to Nalgonda and Suryapet, Rao spoke to party workers. He expressed that people regret supporting Congress, which misled them with false promises affecting farmers and students. He believes the public now sees the BJP as the solution for a fair and democratic government that helps the poor.
Rao urged people to support a “double engine” government, with BJP in power at both state and national levels, in the next elections. He emphasized that the party will contest all local elections independently.
On his tour, Rao instructed party members to get ready for upcoming elections, including local body polls. He stated that BJP will contest from village panchayats to ZPTC seats without alliances.
Rao criticized the Congress-led state government on issues like ration cards and welfare schemes. He demanded that all eligible poor families receive ration cards, accusing the government of favoring Congress supporters. He also criticized them for claiming credit for the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, a central scheme, and removing Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s photos from ration shops.
Addressing reservation policies, Rao said BJP supports social justice but opposes religion-based quotas, arguing they harm backward classes and breach constitutional norms. He reminded that the Supreme Court had previously rejected such quotas and encouraged the Backward Classes community to protest against the Congress government’s misuse of reservations.
Rao accused Congress of being controlled by the Gandhi family, describing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy as their pawn. He urged a fight against this influence, comparing it to the struggle against Nizam rule.
He addressed urea supply issues, refuting Congress’ claims of a shortage due to the Centre. He stated the central government provided 12 lakh metric tonnes, exceeding the state’s request of nine lakh metric tonnes, and demanded accountability from the state for any shortages.
Rao’s tour began with interactions with farmers and youth. He was warmly greeted by BJP members. G. Manohar Reddy praised Rao as a “silent missile” ready to reveal the failures of Congress and BRS. Before a large gathering in Nalgonda, Rao paid respects at the Venkateshwara Temple and honored Gundagoni Maisamma Goud, a Naxalite violence martyr.
In Suryapet, he opened the district BJP office and raised the party flag, starting a new phase of grassroots efforts. Senior party leaders, including Nagam Varshat Reddy and Anji Reddy, attended the Nalgonda meeting, which saw significant female participation.
Rao ended his first day in his native village Nallabandagudem in the Kodad Assembly. He plans to continue public interactions and temple visits on Tuesday.
