Gadwal: BJP leaders and local activists are asking the government to restore old buildings and structures in Rajoli village. These include ancient fort walls and stepwells located near the Sri Vaikuntha Narayana Swamy Temple. The request was led by BJP Mandal President Shashi Kumar. Former Jogulamba Gadwal District BJP President Ramachandra Reddy also visited the site with the team.

Ramachandra Reddy spoke to the media about the history of the area. He said that Rajoli was once ruled by Raja Nalla Somanadri, also known as Pedda Somabhupaludu. This king built the fort, temple walls, and towers. Historical information about him is found in the book Samagra Andhra Sahityam – Volume 2. The fort is home to the sacred Sri Sri Sri Lakshmi Vaikuntha Narayana Swamy temple.

The BJP leaders said they were worried about the poor condition of these old structures. Reddy said the towers near the temple road are now covered in thorny bushes, and many stones have fallen. The remaining parts of the structure are also in danger of collapsing.

They called on the Telangana government to protect and repair historical sites in the Jogulamba Gadwal district. Some of the places they mentioned include the Nizamkonda Fort in the Krishna River, the Gadwal Mud Fort, the Pragatur Mud Fort, and stone towers in villages like Alampur, Rajoli, Gattu, Chinna Tandrapadu, and Dev Banda. The leaders said these sites could attract tourists and help boost the local economy.

The leaders also talked about illegal land occupation. They said that 250 acres of land, originally donated to the Vaikuntha Narayana Swamy temple, have been taken over unlawfully. They urged the Endowment Department to take back the land and use the income for temple rituals and maintenance. This includes events like Bhupathi Deepotsavam and Naivedyam offerings.

Several BJP members and local leaders took part in the program. These included Alampur MLA candidate Rajagopal, Gadwal MLA candidate Shiva Reddy, BJP Kisan Morcha State Executive Member Medikonda Bhim Sen Rao, Mandal President Ij Gopalakrishna, and former Mandal President Sanjeeva Reddy. Other senior leaders and village representatives also attended.

Together, they asked the Telangana government to recognize how important Rajoli’s history is and to protect its ancient buildings and culture.
