BJP Protests in Alampur Over Road and Flood Issues

Gadwal: Dissatisfaction spread in Alampur as BJP leaders and local activists held a one-day protest. They demanded the urgent repair and construction of roads. Sarath Babu and Gongala Eshwar, presidents of Alampur and Pattanam Mandal BJP, led the protest. They received strong backing from former Jogulamba Gadwal BJP District President S. Ramachandra Reddy, who criticized the Telangana state government for ignoring infrastructure development.

At the protest in Alampur town, Ramachandra Reddy questioned the state government’s commitment to public welfare, suggesting it only surfaces during elections. He emphasized:

“The central government handles the highways here. The state government hasn’t even filled potholes. Without the national highways from the central government, it still takes 10 hours to reach Hyderabad.”

Reddy accused the state government of failing to build proper roads in Jogulamba district and across Telangana, neglecting rural infrastructure needs.

2009 Flood Victims’ Struggle

Ramachandra Reddy mentioned the 2009 floods that hit Alampur. He noted that victims were given house plots but still lack basic amenities, even after more than ten years.

“Those plots still lack roads, drainage, or facilities. The government has done nothing for these people,” he stated.

He criticized the poor condition of CC roads in Alampur town, calling them completely damaged and ignored.

Warning of Larger Protests

Reddy warned the state government of more protests if no action is taken. He demanded immediate repairs for Kasapuram Road, reconstruction of CC roads in Pattanam, and infrastructure in flood-relief housing plots. He warned:

“We will launch a massive movement across the district.”

Prominent Leaders Join

Many BJP leaders and members joined the protest to support the cause. Notable figures included:

Raj Gopal – 2023 BJP Assembly Candidate
Rajasekhar Sharma – BJYM State Vice President
Nagamallaiah – OBC State Leader
Nageshwara Reddy – District Executive Member
Abdulla – Itikyala Mandal President
Rangaswami – District Council Member
Naresh – Town General Secretary

Jagan Mohan Reddy, Madhuravani, Maddileti, Pradeep Swami, Vineeth, Mahesh, Ramesh Reddy, Rajasekhar, Bhaskar, Parashuram, Krishna, Satya Reddy, Praveen, and Anji also participated.

The protest underscored the public’s growing anger over infrastructure neglect in Alampur and nearby areas. The BJP made it clear that the issue would not be ignored without action from the government.
