Hyderabad: On Sunday, BRS leaders accused the state government of a massive Rs 1,100 crore scam involving paddy tenders. They claimed the government should have earned Rs 7,500 crore but received less than half. The rest allegedly went to bidders illegally. The set price was Rs 2,007 per quintal, but millers were forced to pay Rs 2,230.
During a press conference, BRS leader Peddi Sudarshan Reddy revealed that despite raising the issue in the Assembly and alerting authorities, no action was taken. He questioned why only four bidders participated in the tenders. Reddy claimed money was collected from millers without lifting the paddy, and funds were transferred to bidders’ accounts. “We gathered 270 bank account details and sent them to the Chief Minister and other officials, but no action followed,” Reddy stated. He emphasized that only a fraction of the expected Rs 7,500 crore reached the treasury, highlighting the overcharge from Rs 2,007 to Rs 2,230 per quintal.
Reddy noted that while the High Court issued notices to the Chief Minister and state minister, the government requested 16 adjournments to respond. “If there’s no corruption, why delay in court?” he asked. He criticized the government for filing illegal cases against KCR, KTR, and Harish Rao and questioned why Revanth Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy were avoiding court. He also alleged the bidders’ deadline was extended five times.
Reddy accused the bidders of funneling Rs 1,100 crore to the Congress party, claiming each Congress MLA received Rs 10 crore. He suggested this money went to Delhi and said Congress leaders there were involved. He alleged no grain was moved, just money collected, and criticized Uttam Kumar Reddy for staying silent. Authorities claimed grain was sent to the Philippines and tried to close the tender process early. Reddy demanded Rs 1,100 crore be deposited into the Civil Supplies account and announced plans to protest at Civil Supplies Bhavan and approach the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Party leaders Errolla Srinivas, Bommera Ramamurthy, Sushila Reddy, K Kishore Goud, Y Satish Reddy, and Abhilash Rangineni were also present.
