Former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy organized a rally called “Rythu Bharossa Yatra” in Khammam on Saturday. A lot of farmers and Ponguleti’s followers participated in the rally. During the rally, the farmers rode tractors and bullock carts while chanting slogans against the BRS government. They continued to the Collectorate, where Ponguleti and other leaders tried to enter the office. However, an argument with the police ensued, resulting in the police forcibly displacing Ponguleti’s followers and stopping them from entering the Collectorate.
After the programme, Ponguleti criticized the BRS government for failing to implement farmer welfare. He pointed out that the government had not yet announced compensation for untimely damaged crops in the district. He also ridiculed CM KCR for showing state farmers as a model during his visit to other states, accusing him of cheating the farmers. Ponguleti directly questioned the government about financial aid for farmers who suffered heavy losses due to untimely rains. He demanded that the government immediately announce Rs 30,000/- per acre for crop loss.
Ponguleti’s followers Muvva Vijay Kumar, Tulluri Brahmaiah, Borra Rajsekhar, M Baby Swarna Kumari, K Rambabu, Vijayabai, Payam Venkateswarlu, J Adinarayana, U Gopala Rao and others participated in the programme.
