Hyderabad: BRS leader E Rakesh Reddy said on Friday that the High Court’s decision about the Group-I examination is a strong setback for the government.
Speaking at the Telangana Bhavan, Reddy called the court ruling a big win for Group-I exam candidates and unemployed youth. He said this was also a moral victory for the BRS party, which had supported students throughout the issue. He pointed out that the BRS had raised concerns about problems in the exam process. “While the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) sent notices to us, the High Court is now sending them notices,” he added.
Reddy questioned how the number of candidates who took the exam changed. “At the time of the exam, 21,075 people were reported to have appeared. But when the results came out, the number had increased to 21,085. How can ten extra people be added? This shows the carelessness of the TGPSC. Even aliens wouldn’t be able to explain this,” he joked.
He also criticized the government’s explanation in court about having separate exam centers for women. Reddy said the government’s lawyer claimed this was to prevent hidden cameras in women’s restrooms. “Can you imagine a worse excuse?” he asked. He also pointed out that in UPSC exams, men and women take exams together without such issues.
Reddy demanded that the Group-I exam be canceled and conducted again to ensure fairness.
