Hyderabad: The student branch of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is launching a campaign to inform students about the Banakacherla project proposed by the Andhra Pradesh government. BRS leaders are organizing meetings to discuss how these decisions might negatively impact the people of Telangana.
The group has printed 500,000 pamphlets to distribute in colleges. A key meeting is set for Saturday in Uppal, featuring senior BRS leaders. Gellu Srinivas Yadav, President of the BRS Student Wing, announced that a State Conference will happen on July 26 at Mallapur VNR Gardens in the Uppal area, starting at 10 a.m. MLA T Harish Rao will attend in the morning, while MLA G Jagadish Reddy and MLC Deshpati Srinivas will join in the afternoon. BRS Working President KT Rama Rao will give the closing speech in the evening.
Srinivas Yadav mentioned that student leaders are using the pamphlets to explain the potential harm Banakacherla could cause to Telangana in every college. He stated, “We will focus on Banakacherla at Saturday’s conference. We aim to reveal how Chandrababu, Modi, and Revanth Reddy are exploiting Telangana’s water resources. This event is to alert everyone about Banakacherla.”
Former MLA Gadari Kishore Kumar claimed that Chandrababu is plotting over the Godavari River waters, highlighting that central agencies have already rejected the project. Former MLA B Suman accused the former Congress government of hindering progress, alleging they are compromising Telangana’s interests by aligning with Chandrababu in Delhi.
He repeated the accusation that Chandrababu and Revanth Reddy plan to divert Godavari’s water to Banakacherla. Former MLA Nomula Bhagat, Chirumalla Rakesh Kumar, Anjaneya Goud, Dharmender Reddy, Tungabalu, Kadari Swami Yadav, and Krishna also attended the meeting.
