A delegation from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), led by party working president KT Rama Rao, met with Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad in Hyderabad. They demanded that the defected MLAs be disqualified and lodged a complaint about frequent protocol violations.
Rama Rao spoke to the media afterwards, accusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of using intimidating tactics to poach BRS MLAs. He claimed that some MLAs had received threatening phone calls from local police officials and that official machinery was being used to target BRS members.
The BRS delegation highlighted the poaching of around 10 MLAs, six MLCs, and one Rajya Sabha member by the ruling party. They also mentioned a complaint lodged against Danam Nagender earlier in March. The delegation emphasized the need for swift action from the Speaker on unlawful party defections, citing a Supreme Court judgment mandating a decision within three months.
KTR criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his contradictory stance on constitutional integrity and party defections. He expressed sympathy for the defected MLAs, stating that they had committed political suicide by switching parties. Furthermore, he raised concerns about frequent protocol violations involving BRS MLAs at official functions and events, calling for immediate action on this issue.
