    Gadwal:
G.K. Eedanna, the President of the Telangana Rythu Sangham in Jogulamba Gadwal District, is urging the Telangana state government to fully implement the promised Rs 2 lakh loan waiver for farmers. A protest took place in front of the Canara Bank branch in Linganvai village, Alampur Mandal, where farmers gathered to express their concerns.

During the protest, Eedanna highlighted that the state government claims to have waived loans for all farmers. However, he pointed out that only ₹18,000 crores of loans have been waived so far, benefiting just 22 lakh farmers. According to official records, more than half of the farmers are still waiting to receive the promised loan waiver.

Eedanna criticized the government for delaying the distribution of ration cards over the past ten years and shifting the blame onto farmers. He also questioned how the families of deceased farmers are supposed to repay loans exceeding ₹2 lakhs, given that the government has not provided clear information on when these funds will be credited to their accounts.

He expressed concern that the government and authorities have not set a definite timeline for the loan waiver, which is causing further distress among farmers. Eedanna demanded that the government establish a clear date and ensure that ₹2 lakhs are credited to the accounts of farmers, fulfilling the loan waiver promise.

After the protest, a memorandum was submitted to a bank officer named Somanna, asking him to bring the farmers’ concerns to the attention of the government. The officer assured the farmers that their issues would be communicated to the authorities.

The protest saw participation from several farmers, including L. Nagaraju, Chaitanya, Bhushanna, Rajareddy, Naganna, Hanumanthu, and others from various villages.
