The Supreme Court in New Delhi has adjourned the proceedings of a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the Andhra Pradesh Government challenging the bail given to former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in a skill scam case. The court has posted further hearing for December 11. The court will wait for the verdict of another SLP seeking to quash the FIR in the skill development case before making a decision. Naidu has been directed to file a counter to the SLP by December 8.
During the hearing, Senior Advocate Ranjit Kumar requested the court to restrain Naidu from making statements about the case in public. Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing the State Government, questioned the bail order issued by the AP High Court. Rohatgi argued that there are findings on merit in the bail order, pointing out that this is a case of diversion of Rs 300 crore from public funds.
Justice Trivedi intervened and stated that the first part of the bail, which prohibits Naidu from speaking about the case in public, will remain in effect. However, Naidu will be allowed to take part in rallies in the second part of the bail condition.
