Hyderabad: On Sunday, Telangana Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao inspected several key infrastructure projects across Hyderabad. His visit focused on checking the progress of major development works that aim to improve the city’s urban landscape.
He stated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is committed to transforming Hyderabad, and these projects reflect that vision. The development efforts are being carried out under the Chief Minister’s direct instructions.
Ramakrishna Rao visited multiple sites where projects under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) and other departments are underway. He looked over the construction of major flyovers, the Hyderabad Old City Metro Rail expansion, new foot over bridges, the KBR to H-City corridor project, and sewage treatment plants.
Top officials accompanied him during these visits, including MAUD Secretary K Ilambarithi, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan, Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy, and Water Works MD Ashok Reddy.
The inspection began at the foot over bridge near GVK Mall in Banjara Hills. From there, the team moved to Darushifa to review the alignment for the upcoming Old City Metro Line. NVS Reddy explained that the metro corridor would run from MGBS Bus Station to Chandrayangutta. He highlighted that land acquisition is progressing well, thanks to support from local residents.
Next, the Chief Secretary visited the Khurshid Jha Devi Heritage Building in Hussainialam, where HMDA is funding conservation and repair work.
At the Falaknuma Road over Bridge (RoB) site, officials reported that most GHMC-related tasks are nearly complete. They expect to acquire the remaining five properties for service road expansion shortly after the railway section is finished. The goal is to wrap up this project by August.
The inspection continued at the Moosarambagh Bridge site over the Musi River, where Ramakrishna Rao asked about the land acquisition status. Officials noted that while progress is being made, some properties still need to be acquired.
He also reviewed the construction of sewage treatment plants by the Water Board. He instructed officials to fast-track these projects to ensure timely completion.
The Chief Secretary confirmed that the Old City Metro Rail project has sufficient funding. He urged officials to speed up land acquisition and emphasized quick completion of flyovers, bridges, and sewage plants under the GHMC SRDP and other schemes.
He assured citizens that these infrastructure works will move forward without causing major disruptions and that all planned projects, including the Moosarambagh Bridge and sewage treatment facilities, will be fully operational soon.
