Hyderabad:
T Jagga Reddy, the working president of Telangana Congress and MLA from Sangareddy, strongly criticized BRS MLC K Kavitha for suddenly bringing up the idea of “Social Telangana” after her party lost power.
Speaking to the media, Reddy questioned Kavitha’s timing. “Why didn’t she talk about Social Telangana when her father, K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), led the state for 10 years?” he asked. “Now that they’re out of power, she suddenly remembers it. This shows that BRS never truly cared about social justice when they had the chance to act.”
Reddy accused Kavitha of trying to mislead the people once again. “Now that the people have rejected BRS, she’s singing a new tune to stay relevant,” he said. “She had every opportunity to push for social reforms earlier, but she didn’t.”
He pointed out that under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Congress government in Telangana is already working to ensure social justice and democratic governance. “Today, people can speak freely and protest openly because Congress restored that right,” Reddy said. “Even Kavitha’s recent comments are possible because we guarantee that freedom.”
Reddy went on to contrast the two parties. “BRS put on a show for 10 years,” he claimed. “Congress is delivering real governance. We are not acting—we’re working for the people.”
He highlighted the recent caste census carried out by the Congress government, following Rahul Gandhi’s direction, as proof of its commitment to social equity. “This was what people asked for—true representation and fair data. Congress delivered it,” he said.
Taking a direct jab at Kavitha, Reddy added, “She accidentally admitted what we’ve known all along—that BRS ignored the concept of Social Telangana. Her own words show their failure.”
Reddy emphasized that the people of Telangana have moved on. “They no longer trust BRS’ promises. They’ve placed their faith in Congress, and they won’t go back,” he said. “We’ve promised 10 years of good governance under Revanth Reddy, and we will honor that.”
He concluded by saying the people of Telangana wanted change, justice, and freedom—and Congress is giving it to them.
