Kagaznagar, Telangana – The CITU (Centre of Indian Trade Unions) District Committee held a meeting on Sunday in Kagaznagar town, led by District President J Rajender. During the gathering, the group launched a poster promoting a nationwide general strike set for May 20.
At the event, CITU District General Secretary Munjam Srinivas urged workers from all industries to support the upcoming strike. He said the protest aims to challenge the Central government's anti-worker policies and demand the withdrawal of the newly introduced labour codes.
Srinivas strongly criticized the BJP-led government for replacing 29 existing labour laws with just four new codes. He claimed these changes hurt workers’ rights and mainly serve the interests of big businesses.
He also alleged that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power, corporate companies have benefited from massive loan waivers totaling ₹16.35 lakh crore. According to Srinivas, this shows the government’s bias toward the wealthy while ignoring the needs of the working class.
Other key members at the meeting included Vice Presidents Srikant and R. Triveni, as well as Assistant Secretaries Shankar and Krishnamachari.
The May 20 strike is expected to draw workers from across the country to voice their opposition and demand fair treatment in the workplace.
