    The Wings India 2024 event started at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad on Thursday. This event is held every two years and will take place from January 18 to January 21. Asangba Chuba Ao, in his welcome address, talked about the goal of making India a global aviation leader and the importance of collaboration and building a strong aviation sector together.

    Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia addressed the audience and mentioned that the number of passengers has significantly increased from 60 million in 2014 to 145 million in 2023. He also highlighted the economic multiplier effect in the civil aviation sector, where one job creates six indirect jobs. Additionally, he mentioned that 75 new airports were established in the last decade and the plan is to develop 200 airports by 2030.

    AkasaAir made an announcement at the Wings India 2024 event that they have signed a deal for 150 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. This makes them the first Indian airline to have a firm order book of 200+ aircraft within just 17 months of operations.

    Airbus also made some significant deals at the event. They signed fresh agreements with Tata Advanced Systems and Mahindra Aerospace for manufacturing various parts for A320neos and other aircraft. In collaboration with Air India, Airbus also launched a flight training center in Gurgaon to meet the increasing demand for trained pilots.

    According to Remi Maillard, Chairman of FICCI Civil Aviation Committee and President and MD of Airbus (India & South Asia), the global aviation landscape is shifting towards India, and what we are witnessing is just the beginning.

    Overall, the Wings India 2024 event is bringing together key players in the aviation industry to discuss and showcase the advancements and opportunities in India’s aviation sector.
