Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged TGSRTC employees to cancel their planned strike and hold talks with the government instead. He emphasized that the state is already facing serious financial problems, and a strike now would only make things worse.
Revanth blamed former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and the BRS party for the current crisis in the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC). He warned workers not to be misled by BRS leaders, recalling that during the BRS rule, an earlier strike ended in tragedy with the deaths of 50 RTC employees.
The Chief Minister highlighted that TGSRTC is now making profits, and preserving its progress is in the hands of the employees. He said, “A strike at this time will harm the entire state. Telangana is slowly coming out of a financial crisis, and by next year, the situation will be much better.”
Revanth also mentioned various welfare programs introduced for workers. He acknowledged the important role played by employees from Singareni, RTC, the electricity department, and those in the unorganised sector in building the state.
He said his government is committed to supporting the workforce. Compassionate appointments are already happening in RTC, and a new gig workers policy will be launched soon to help those in informal jobs.
“Our government stands for the well-being of workers,” Revanth added. “We are creating policies to improve their lives and ensure they’re treated fairly.”
