Hyderabad: BJP MLA Aleti Maheshwar Reddy strongly criticized Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing him of making irresponsible comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. He claimed the CM did this to impress Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and protect his own position within the party during the AICC meeting in Ahmedabad.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Maheshwar Reddy accused the Chief Minister of “surrendering” Telangana to Rahul Gandhi. He said such behavior has never been seen before in the state. He also criticized Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan for holding review meetings in the State Secretariat without the presence of the Chief Minister, calling her an “extra-constitutional authority.”
The BJP MLA said that Narendra Modi was elected as Prime Minister for the third time due to the trust and respect of people across the country. He alleged that CM Revanth Reddy attacked Modi and the BJP only to hold onto his position as Chief Minister.
Maheshwar Reddy also rejected claims made by the Chief Minister that the BJP misled the public with false promises and guarantees in Modi’s name. He instead accused the Congress of coming to power in Telangana with fake promises and failing to deliver on them during the past 16 months.
He pointed out that the Congress recently lost the MLC election and argued that Revanth Reddy is losing support even in his own constituency, Kodangal. According to Maheshwar Reddy, the CM’s attempts to weaken the BJP in Telangana are unlikely to succeed.
Looking ahead to the next assembly elections, Maheshwar Reddy said it is uncertain whether Revanth Reddy will even be able to retain his seat in Kodangal, let alone defeat the BJP statewide.
