Nagar Kurnool: District Collector Badavath Santosh and MLA Vamshi Krishna celebrated the tribal festival of Teej with great enthusiasm at the Achampet Tribal Hall. The event saw a large gathering of women, young girls, and boys, all dressed in traditional tribal attire. They performed special rituals on Sunday as part of the celebration.

The Teej festival, which lasted for nine days, involved special prayers to the clan deity. Women and young girls expressed their devotion through traditional dances, which are an important part of the festivities.

Teej is one of the most significant festivals for the Banjara and Lambadi communities. The word “Teej” signifies “wheat sprouts,” and the festival is celebrated with deep devotion over nine days during the month of Shravan, particularly by unmarried girls.

During the closing ceremony, District Collector Badavath Santosh addressed the gathering. He extended his heartfelt wishes for the Teej festival to all members of the Banjara community. He emphasized that the event is being held to educate future generations about the importance of the Teej festival. The primary goal of the festival is to protect and preserve the Banjara culture and traditions that have been passed down through generations. He urged everyone to contribute to this cause.
