Khammam: The government has introduced the Bhu Bharati Act to permanently solve land-related problems. People are encouraged to submit applications during revenue meetings being held in villages, said Dr. P. Sreeja, the in-charge Collector.
On Friday, Dr. Sreeja visited the revenue conferences in Cheruvu Madharam and Kotha Kothur villages in Nelakondapalli Mandal. During her visit, she checked how applications were being collected, how records were maintained, and how receipts were issued to applicants with land issues.
She explained that the Bhu Bharati Act aims to make the land system more transparent while protecting farmers’ sense of security regarding their land ownership. The Act will help with services like land transactions, registration, updating records, and dealing with restricted lands.
Dr. Sreeja said the Act is designed to make the process simple and understandable for farmers, common people, and those living in rural areas. It also includes a two-level appeal system to resolve land disputes.
According to her, farmers will receive free legal help. She added that if anyone illegally changes land ownership records and gets pattas (land documents) for government or assigned lands (like bhoodan, endowment, or waqf lands), the law has the power to cancel those documents.
She urged people who have land rights but are not listed in the official records to apply for corrections and get their names registered this year under the new law.
In the revenue conference held in Cheruvu Madharam village, 160 applications were received related to land issues. In Kotha Kothur village, 28 applications were collected. Officials gave receipts to everyone who submitted an application.
Later on Friday afternoon, another revenue conference was held in Sadashivapuram village, where over 46 applications were received.
Several officials took part in these events, including SDC and Palair Constituency In-charge Officer M. Rajeshwari, Khammam RDO Narasimha Rao, Nelakondapalli Mandal Tahsildar Venkateshwarlu, Tahsildars Tafazzul Hussain and Imran, and Revenue Inspectors Srinivas and Ravi.
