On Saturday, a vehicle involved in illegal soil transportation was caught in Appayapalli, Wanaparthy. The vehicle did not have a valid temporary bill and was taken to the Wanaparthy Rural Police Station. However, the person responsible for the mining permit quickly generated the required bill, tricking both the public and the authorities.
Instead of taking legal action, the authorities imposed a small fine of Rs 2,600 and released the vehicle. This has upset many people because the same vehicle is reportedly making multiple illegal trips every day but only faces small penalties.
This is not the first time such incidents have been reported. Many people are confused by how mining officials in Wanaparthy district are handling the situation. Even though illegal excavation and transportation of soil are happening in different parts of the district, no serious action has been taken against the violators. Reports from various areas show that illegal soil movement is happening regularly, but district mining officials seem to be ignoring it.
While officials claim they are monitoring the situation, they have been accused of only pretending to inspect the activities. Though some areas have temporary permissions for mining, large amounts of soil are being moved illegally beyond the permitted limits. Critics say that the officials in charge are ignoring these violations. Even when concerned citizens report the illegal activities, no major action is taken. Some believe that bribery is influencing the officials’ lack of response.
The illegal soil trade is bringing in large profits for offenders, but the government is losing money due to small fines. Critics are calling for stricter enforcement and more transparency to stop the ongoing illegal activities and prevent further financial losses to the state.
