Congress party leader Tummeti Sammi Reddy, along with farmers and other people, welcomed the NGT court order to stop sand quarries in the Manair catchment area and impose fines on officials. They spoke to the media in Jammikunta about the harassment faced by farmers, including illegal cases, by certain corrupt officials and police officers.

The former minister Gangula Kamalakar and others were accused of working with the sand mafia to intimidate farmers who were trying to stop sand transportation in the area. Sudhakar was praised for his efforts in fighting against the sand mafia. The Green Tribunal court’s judgment instructed officials to collect fines and compensate farmers for their losses, as well as drop any illegal cases against them.
