The Congress is getting ready to announce the second list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. BC leaders are reminding the high command about the importance of ‘social justice.’
After the experience of the Assembly elections, BC leaders are asking for at least four to five seats this time. They are concerned about the flood of dissidents from the BRS, especially from upper castes like the Reddy community.
The OBC MPs National Forum ex-convener V Hanumantha Rao emphasized the party’s commitment to social justice. He pointed out that Rahul Gandhi has promised political representation based on the proportion of the population. BC leaders are urging the party to follow through on this promise.
Despite only one BC nominee being included in the first list of candidates released by the AICC, BC leaders have approached the high command. They are highlighting the difference between the party’s stance and the actual ground situation when selecting candidates.
Rao, who is seeking a candidacy from Khammam LS segment, has been advocating for more representation for BCs. He believes that BCs make up more than 50% of the constituency and is hopeful for a chance to contest from there.
BC leaders are hopeful that the high command will ensure social justice is done this time around. They are pushing for more seats to be allocated to BC candidates in line with the party’s commitment to ‘social justice.’
