Hyderabad: Mohd Saleem, secretary of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), criticized the recently passed Waqf Amendment Bill, calling it harmful to the Muslim community. He said the bill looks good on the outside but is actually dangerous, comparing it to “sugar-coated poison.”

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Saleem said the bill goes against Muslims and the Constitution. He questioned why the government made these changes, asking if any Muslim individuals or organizations had requested amendments to the Waqf Act. “No one did,” he said.

Saleem accused the BJP government, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, of pushing the bill with wrong intentions. He claimed that the changes were driven by hatred and aimed at targeting Muslims. According to him, the inclusion of two non-Muslims and women in the Waqf Board is a plan to take over land owned by the Waqf, which is one of the largest landowners in India.
