Hyderabad: The Mahila Congress leaders in Hyderabad tried to protest in front of the BJP State office as part of a nationwide demonstration. This protest was in response to comments made by Union Minister Ravneet Bittu, which the Congress found objectionable. The police stopped the leaders from burning an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the protest.

Congress leaders across the country were called to protest by the All India Congress Committee (AICC). In Hyderabad, many Congress members gathered at Gandhi Bhavan, holding signs and shouting slogans against the BJP leadership. Meanwhile, the Mahila Congress leaders were arrested after their attempt to lay siege to the BJP State office.

The Congress leaders were angry about how BJP and Shiv Sena leaders were threatening Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition. Complaints were filed at several police stations across the state. In some places, Congress workers even burned effigies. At Gandhi Bhavan, the protest was led by Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender Reddy and Telangana State Fisheries Corporation chairman Mettu Sai Kumar.

During the protest, Mettu Sai Kumar announced a reward of Rs 1 crore for anyone who would kill the leaders threatening Rahul Gandhi. The Congress leaders demanded that the BJP leadership, which has been silent on the matter, take immediate action against those inciting violence against Rahul Gandhi.
