CS instructs officials to inspect monsoon readiness

Hyderabad: K Ramakrishna Rao, the Chief Secretary, instructed special officers on Friday to check districts thoroughly for monsoon readiness and inspect public facilities like primary health centers.

He held a review meeting with special officers from former districts and senior officials at the Secretariat. They discussed monsoon preparedness, urea distribution, and ration card allocation. The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of being visible in the field to show that the administration is alert and responsive. Officers were tasked with ensuring districts are ready for the monsoon, and that urea and ration cards are distributed properly. Inspections of public institutions were also emphasized.

This meeting followed a recent video conference led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The Chief Minister had instructed the appointment of senior officers as special district overseers to check on government program implementation. These officers were urged to coordinate with district collectors to ensure effective execution of government plans.

Arvind Kumar, the Special Chief Secretary of Disaster Management, briefed on the rainfall situation and forecast. He assured that the State Disaster Response Force is prepared with personnel and resources for rescue operations. 2,000 Aapada Mitras have been trained to act as first responders in emergencies, and collectors were encouraged to use their services during heavy rains.

Rahul Bojja, the Irrigation Secretary, stated that special operating procedures (SoPs) for pre- and post-monsoon checks of all tanks are in place. Vulnerable points and irrigation tanks are under constant surveillance. The Transport Commissioner mentioned that joint teams from agriculture, cooperative, marketing, transport, and police departments are formed to prevent urea diversion in the state.
