CV Anand Takes Charge as Hyderabad City Police Commissioner
Senior IPS officer CV Anand has taken over as the new Hyderabad City Police Commissioner. He assumed his duties on Monday at the Telangana State Integrated Command & Control Centre (TGSICCC) in Banjara Hills. One of his top priorities will be ensuring the peaceful completion of the upcoming Ganesh idol immersion and Milad festivities. He also plans to review the arrangements and action plans for these events.
Anand replaces outgoing Commissioner K Sreenivas Reddy. This marks Anand’s second term as the Hyderabad City Police Commissioner, with his first term lasting from December 2021 to October 2023.
During his speech, CV Anand expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and the State Government for providing him the opportunity to serve as Commissioner once again. He highlighted the government’s strong stance on tackling the drug and ganja menace and vowed to intensify the police department’s efforts in fighting these issues. Anand also promised to work towards improving law and order in the city, emphasizing the importance of friendly policing while ensuring strict action against criminals.
Anand referred to the Ganesh festival security arrangements as the “finals” in comparison to other events, which he likened to “quarter finals and semifinals.” He expressed confidence that all officers would rise to the challenge.
During his previous tenure, CV Anand implemented several significant initiatives, including introducing IT reforms like D-CAMO and Fit Cop. He was also instrumental in setting up the Command Control Centre (CCC), reorganizing the city police, launching the H-NEW initiative, and appointing women inspectors as Station House Officers (SHOs).
Several senior police officials, including Vikram Singh Mann (Additional CP of Law & Order), Viswaprasad (Additional CP of Traffic), Parimala Hananutan (DIG-ICCC), and Gajarao Bhopal (Joint CP of Administration), were present during the handing-over ceremony.
