Hyderabad: The Cyber Crime Police in Hyderabad have arrested three men from Delhi for selling fake products online. The suspects—Nikhil (26), Mohit Sharma (25), and Sonu Kumar (26)—were caught making and selling counterfeit soap bars using the name of a well-known skincare company. Police seized 80 fake soap bars, 20 fake skincare bars, and other related materials from them.

The case began when a doctor from Hyderabad filed a complaint. The doctor said that their company sells skin and hair care products under a registered brand name. Recently, they discovered that someone was selling fake versions of their soap online. These fake products were being sold under different names by third-party sellers on e-commerce websites, with 19 fake listings found.

This caused serious confusion among customers, leading to dissatisfaction and harming the company’s reputation. After receiving the complaint, police registered a case under several sections of the IT Act, the Copyright Act, and the Indian Penal Code.

DCP Cyber Crime, D Kavitha, said the three men ran an online business and wanted to earn quick money. They teamed up and began producing fake soaps that looked like the real ones—using the same color, size, and packaging. Two other suspects, Dinesh Negi and Pankaj, who helped them make the fake products, are still missing.

Police warned that fake listings online can cause customers to buy poor-quality or unsafe products. They advised people to always buy from official brand stores or verified sellers.

If anyone becomes a victim of cyber fraud, they should immediately call 1930 or visit the official website at cybercrime.gov.in for help.
