Hyderabad, October 29, 2025: As Cyclone Montha unleashes its peak impact across Telangana, several districts are witnessing torrential downpours and severe flooding. The situation is particularly alarming in Warangal, Hanamkonda, and surrounding districts, which have recorded some of the highest rainfall totals in recent history.
According to the latest reports from the Telangana State Disaster Management Authority (TSDMA), Warangal district has emerged as the epicenter of the rainfall fury, with Parvathagiri receiving an unprecedented 375.5 mm of rain. Other parts of the district have recorded between 300 and 360 mm.
In Hanamkonda, Bheemadevarapalle witnessed 371 mm of rainfall, with nearby regions also crossing the 300 mm mark.
The impact of Cyclone Montha’s outer bands extended further —
-
Siddipet (Husnabad) recorded 268.8 mm, while other mandals received 150–250 mm.
-
Jangaon (Palakurthy) reported 269 mm, with the rest of the district seeing 180–250 mm.
-
Karimnagar (Huzurabad) measured 236.5 mm, and the surrounding areas recorded 140–220 mm.
-
Rajanna Sircilla (Ellanthakunta) logged 190 mm.
The catastrophic rainfall has caused widespread inundation, crop losses, and severe disruptions to power and road connectivity. Waterlogging has been reported in several low-lying colonies, and traffic on key routes remains paralyzed.
Disaster management teams and local authorities are on high alert, deploying rescue units to vulnerable zones. Citizens have been advised to stay indoors, avoid non-essential travel, and follow official weather advisories closely.
Social media platforms are flooded with distressing visuals and videos showing submerged homes, overflowing drains, and stranded vehicles. Locals describe the situation as “a catastrophe beyond words.”
Meteorologists warn that Cyclone Montha’s residual circulation will continue to bring heavy rains to north and central Telangana for the next 24 hours before gradually weakening.
