Hyderabad: C Damodar Raja Narsimha, the Health Minister, helped a young girl named Aishwarya receive free treatment for a severe heart condition at NIMS Hospital.
Aishwarya, an 8-year-old from Karnataka, lives with her parents in the Malakpet area of Hyderabad. Her parents work in a local hotel. Concerned about Aishwarya’s frequent illnesses, they took her to a nearby private hospital.
Doctors diagnosed Aishwarya with an Atrial Septal defect, a heart issue that required surgery to save her life. The operation was estimated to cost at least Rs 5 lakh, a sum that devastated the family. Without an Aarogyasri or ration card from Telangana, they faced financial challenges, having only an Aadhaar card from Karnataka.
In desperation, the family approached Health Minister Damodar Raja Narsimha. Touched by their plight, the minister arranged for Aishwarya’s admission to NIMS and ordered immediate, cost-free surgery. Dr. N Beerappa, the director of NIMS, coordinated the operation. On June 4, a team led by cardiologists Gopal and Praveen performed a successful surgery. Aishwarya was discharged after a full recovery.
Grateful, Aishwarya’s parents met Minister Raja Narsimha at the Secretariat to thank him. They expressed deep gratitude, saying it felt like a divine intervention saved their daughter. The minister, in return, warmly greeted Aishwarya and advised her parents to continue caring for her diligently.
