Delhi Capitals Head Coach, Ricky Ponting, has admitted that there are better openers in other IPL teams than Prithvi Shaw. Shaw has only scored 47 runs in six games for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023, and has been dropped from the team. Ponting had high hopes for Shaw at the beginning of the season, but his performance has not delivered.

Ponting believes that Shaw has the potential to be a match winner, but so far this season, he has not produced. Even trying England’s Phil Salt as an opener did not work for Delhi Capitals this season. Ponting hopes that Shaw can finish the tournament strongly if he gets another chance to play.

There are a lot of games left in the tournament, and if Delhi Capitals’ current top order does not perform well, there is a possibility that Shaw could return to the team. However, Ponting is focused on the team’s next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
