Gadwal: In Aiza Municipality, many people came together for the Jesta Amavasya Pujas in honor of the respected Sri Sri Thikka Veereshwara Swamy. This event attracted hundreds of devotees from nearby areas.
On this special new moon day, worshippers gathered to respect the saint famous for his spiritual abilities and miracles. The pujas were filled with deep devotion, and afterward, free food known as annaprasadam was shared, spreading a spiritual vibe throughout the town.
Sri Sri Thikka Veereshwara Swamy followed a path of spirituality from a young age. He was a follower of Sri Sri Mahalinga Swamy from Errakota village in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh. Guided by his guru, he set up a small ashram by the Pedda Vaagu in Aiza village. Swamy gave up a worldly life, took to seeking alms, and helped locals through spiritual teachings and miraculous acts, gaining many loyal followers.
Swamy’s influence dates back to the Nizam Nawab era. The Maharaja of Gadwal made a special ceremonial chariot for him. This chariot, built decades ago, is still used during the annual festival in February, attracting thousands of devotees who join the grand procession with great enthusiasm.
Every Amavasya, special rituals and pujas take place to honor Swamy. Free annaprasadam is given to all attendees. This year’s Ashadha Amavasya saw hundreds participating in the ceremonies.
As night came, Aiza was filled with a spiritual mood, with devotional songs and music heard throughout the streets. The celebration lasted all night, bringing the community together in faith and reverence.
These monthly Amavasya events show the deep faith devotees have in Sri Sri Thikka Veereshwara Swamy, whose legacy continues to inspire and uplift people in Aiza and beyond.
