Gadwal: The Jogulamba Gadwal District Police organized an event at the Boys’ High School to mark Anti-Drug Awareness Week. District Superintendent of Police Shri T. Srinivasa Rao, IPS, instructed this initiative, with Deputy Superintendent of Police Shri V. Mogilayya leading the session. He spoke to students about the dangers of drug abuse, particularly the rising issue of marijuana and other substances.
DSP V. Mogilayya stressed the importance of community involvement in creating a drug-free district. He warned students to avoid addiction, which often starts with seeking temporary thrills, and emphasized the negative impact of drugs like marijuana.
He mentioned a new surveillance system to track drug users and traffickers, highlighting that addiction can lead to mental health issues and crime. He described the severe health risks of drugs, such as damage to nerves and major organs.
Parents and teachers play a crucial role, according to DSP Mogilayya, by monitoring children’s activities to prevent dangerous habits early. He expressed concern about youths with potential being drawn into harmful behaviors.
The police are dedicated to eradicating drugs by engaging both rural and urban areas. The aim is to maintain a Drug-Free Telangana, ensuring the youth avoid narcotics and illegal activities related to drugs.
Students, teachers, and police actively participated in the awareness program. The SHE Team, including SI Swathi, helped educate students on the consequences of drug use.
Key messages from the campaign included the importance of eliminating the drug problem and fostering a drug-free society for future generations. The police department urged the community to report any suspicious drug activities, reinforcing their commitment to protecting the youth from drug abuse.
