Gadwal: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi Vibhagam (BRSV), led by State President Gellu Srinivas Yadav, launched a “Badi-Bata” (School Campaign) in Telangana. This initiative aims to draw attention to the dire condition of government schools. Kuruv Pallayya, BRSV State Leader and Jogulamba Gadwal District Coordinator, visited several schools in Aiza Mandal, Alampur constituency, uncovering serious infrastructure and sanitation problems.
During his visit, Pallayya stopped at Bharat Nagar Primary School, Government Girls High School, and Government Girls Primary School in Santha Bazaar. He spoke with teachers and students, noting the challenges they face.
Key problems identified include:
Midday Meals: Pallayya was very concerned about the poor quality of meals. The rice was undercooked and clumpy, making it hard for students to eat.
Toilets: Many schools lack sufficient toilets. For instance, the Government Girls High School has only four toilets for around 430 students, causing major inconvenience.
Drinking Water: Schools do not have filtered drinking water. Students must walk to nearby temples to get water, which Pallayya called “unfortunate and shameful.”
Safety Concerns: Bharat Nagar Primary School does not have a compound wall, raising safety issues.
Mosquito Infestation: Students suffer from mosquito bites in classrooms. Lack of bleaching and sanitation around the schools is a health risk.
Pallayya criticized the Congress-led Revanth Reddy government for neglecting public schools and favoring private education. He said, “This negligence is a disgrace. The Congress government is abandoning government schools for corporate education. Immediate action is needed to fix the infrastructure issues.”
Demands include:
- Immediate setup of proper toilets and drinking water facilities.
- Hiring enough teaching staff.
- Regular sanitation efforts like bleaching to tackle health risks.
- Better management of midday meals to provide nutritious food.
- Strengthening school infrastructure, especially before the monsoon season, to ensure uninterrupted learning.
Pallayya mentioned the past success of the “Mana Ooru – Mana Badi” program by the BRS government, which improved school infrastructure. He urged for its revival.
The visit ended with a call for urgent government action to ease student hardships and support public education. Local leaders like former town president Veeresh, Darji Veeresh, Nagar Doddi Kiran, Raju, Riyaz, Ramesh, and others also participated, supporting the BRSV’s push for educational reform.
