In Hyderabad, a Union Minister of State for Home Affairs criticized the HYDRAA Commissioner for comments about not visiting Akbaruddin College. The college is said to be illegally built on Salkam Lake land in the Old City. The minister found these remarks misguided and asked if the decision came from the state government or was made by the officer alone.
Sanjay Kumar questioned whether Akbaruddin Owaisi enjoys special privileges, asking why regulations aren’t applied to him. He pointed out that while the official did not demolish homes of the poor in the Musi area, no notice was given to the college management about building on disputed land. He suggested a notice to vacate could have been issued, with demolition planned after the academic year. Kumar wondered if only the Akbaruddin family’s lives mattered while the poor were ignored.
The Karimnagar MP also noted that supporters of Owaisi, who attack constables, seem to be rewarded. He asked if the rewards were for occupying government and private lands or associating with those linked to terrorism. He demanded to know if HYDRAA has allowed exemptions for Owaisi’s properties and if his supporters can act without consequences. He urged the Chief Minister to respond quickly.
He recalled how both he and CM Revanth Reddy were jailed for alleged offenses like leaking a question paper and flying a drone. The MP also questioned why no action was taken on issues like the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project corruption, phone tapping scandal, formula racing irregularities, drug scandal, farmhouse issues, sheep procurement problems, and power purchasing scandals. He suggested the law might be under the influence of BRS chief KCR during the Congress government.
Finally, the Union Minister warned against targeting media freedom and intimidating journalists by the BRS. He stated that the Congress government’s protection of such acts shows its incompetence. He affirmed that the BJP is ready to defend democracy and support the media, with thousands of workers in Telangana ready to join this fight.
