A doctor at NIMS Hospital in Panjagutta was targeted by cyber criminals. The doctor, who is a senior resident, posted his electric chair for sale on OLX. The criminals, pretending to be someone named Jitendra Sharma from a furniture shop in Kukatpally, contacted the doctor.

They showed interest in buying the chair and asked the doctor to scan a QR code to receive payment. Trusting them, the doctor scanned the QR code, which led to Rs.2.58 lakhs being taken from his bank account.
