Hyderabad has seen a major success in property tax collection this year. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) gathered more than ₹870 crore under its Early Bird Scheme, beating last year’s total of ₹831 crore.
Over 7.5 lakh property owners paid their taxes before the April 30 deadline. Many used different options to make payments, including the GHMC online portal, Citizen Service Centres, MeeSeva centres, and even through bill collectors.
GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan praised the hard work of the entire team — from bill collectors to zonal commissioners. He also thanked citizens for paying on time and supporting the initiative.
This year’s Early Bird Scheme, part of the 2025–26 financial year, gave a 5% discount on the current year’s property tax for those who paid early. However, this rebate didn’t apply to any unpaid taxes from previous years.
With strong public response and efficient staff efforts, the GHMC has set a new benchmark in tax collection.
