Hyderabad: The city of Hyderabad celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with great joy and devotion, joining the rest of the country in marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan. Special prayers were held at various mosques, including the historic Makkah Masjid near Charminar, where thousands gathered early in the morning.
In the days leading up to Eid, local markets like Laad Bazaar and Sultan Bazaar were filled with people shopping for new clothes, gifts, and delicious festive treats. Families enjoyed a special breakfast that included Sheer Khurma, a traditional sweet dish. Before the prayers, Muslim families gave Fitra, a required charity, to help the poor take part in the celebrations. Wealthier families also gave Zakat, donating 2.5% of their wealth to support those in need.
Children looked forward to receiving Eidi, small gifts or money from elders, and spent the day visiting relatives to collect their treats. At places like Mir Alam Eidgah, Madannapet Eidgah, and Makkah Masjid, senior police officers also joined in by greeting people and spreading the message of harmony.
