    A 78-year-old man in Tolichowki died after falling into a trench left open for sewerage works. No safety measures were taken at the site where works under the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) were ongoing slowly, causing inconvenience to residents.

    The man, Ghulam Mohammed, fell into the trench on his way home after offering namaz. Despite being rescued and taken to a hospital, he passed away while receiving treatment. His son filed a complaint against HMWSSB and Ayyappa Infra Projects for negligence in ensuring safety measures at the construction site.

    The SNDP project in Tolichowki has been ongoing since 2022, aiming to improve the sewerage system in the area. The slow pace of work has led to concerns among residents, who face difficulties like dust, traffic congestion, and sewage overflow daily. Activist Asif Hussain Sohail emphasized the need for timely completion of the project to minimize disruptions.

    Residents have raised concerns about the lack of progress in the construction work and the absence of safety precautions at the site. Despite complaints to relevant authorities, the work continues at a sluggish pace due to alleged delays in fund allocation from the government.
