A team from India’s top institutions focusing on intellectual and developmental disabilities visited the Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TGSCPCR) on Sunday. The group of experts, dedicated to supporting Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PwIDDs), met with commission chairperson Seetha Dayakar Reddy and members Vandana Goud, Aparna, Chandana, and Saritha.
The experts showed strong interest in working with the commission to safeguard and advance children’s rights, particularly for those with disabilities. They offered their assistance to improve child-centered rehabilitation efforts and pledged to collaborate for the overall well-being and development of children. Reddy and her team praised the experts for their dedication and valuable work in child welfare and inclusive growth.
Key members of the visiting team included Dr. R Shilpa Manogama, an associate professor at NCERT; M. Kathiravan, head of the ASD unit at NIEPMD, Chennai; Dr. Dattatreya Rai, a vocational counselor from the Department of Rheumatology at AIIMS; Rakesh Rajan, assistant director from the Ministry of Labour & Employment’s National Career Service; Mamatha Agarwal, a freelance rehabilitation and education specialist; and P Hepsybha ManikyaLatha, a rehabilitation practitioner at NBER.
Commission officials expressed their enthusiasm for ongoing partnerships with national organizations to ensure all children in the state have equitable and inclusive opportunities.
