Hyderabad has made history with the launch of the Telangana Journal of Higher Education (TJHE). Prof. V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE), introduced this new initiative on Monday, aiming to boost research in the state.
The virtual event saw participation from top academics and education leaders. Key figures such as Prof. Etikaala Purushotham, Prof. S.K. Mahamood, and Prof. Sriram Venkatesh from TGCHE were present.
Prof. Reddy emphasized that TJHE is more than just a journal; it is a movement to enhance research culture, academic quality, and policy-making in higher education. This biannual, peer-reviewed journal will serve as a platform for scholars and leaders to share insights and address challenges in academia.
The first issue focuses on “Technology and Higher Education,” highlighting the Council’s dedication to academic digital transformation. Prof. Reddy stressed the importance of setting research standards in Telangana’s institutions to achieve national recognition.
TGCHE’s strategy includes three key components: a Monthly Higher Education Newsletter, the Biannual Journal (TJHE), and strategic partnerships with national bodies to enhance research infrastructure.
Prof. Reddy announced TGCHE’s support for the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative by the Indian government. This initiative aims to create a unified digital knowledge environment, benefiting learners and promoting Indian research globally.
The journal launch aligns with a new partnership with the Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET) in Gujarat. After discussions with Prof. Devika P. Madalli, INFLIBNET’s Director, TGCHE will offer digital academic services to Telangana’s public universities.
TJHE will explore various fields such as Pedagogy, Law, Technology, and more. Prof. S.K. Mahamood praised the collaborative efforts to make Telangana a leader in educational research.
Prof. Sriram Venkatesh thanked everyone involved and acknowledged Prof. Reddy’s leadership in realizing TJHE. He noted that TJHE reflects Prof. Reddy’s vision to foster research and innovation in the state.
