In Damaracharla, Nalgonda, the first unit of the Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS), which generates 800 MW, has been launched. Ministers Bhatti Vikramarka, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Adluri Lakshman attended the event. Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy also joined the ceremony.
During the event, the ministers initiated the construction of an integrated township at the YTPS. This development will span 55 acres and is projected to cost ₹970 crore. To celebrate Vanamahotsavam, the ministers planted Ikka saplings on the site. They also met with local residents without land and promised job opportunities by 15th August.
The YTPS project began under the previous administration in 2015, aiming for five 800 MW units. Construction started in 2017, and the original budget of ₹30,000 crore has now increased by ₹5,000 crore.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the second unit on 7th December last year. The third and fourth units are almost ready and should start operating by year’s end. The fifth unit is expected to be finished by March 2026.
A residential township for the plant employees will be built on 60 acres in Dubbatanda, about three kilometers from the plant.
