Gadwal: Rising water levels in the Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers have prompted T. Srinivasa Rao, IPS, the Superintendent of Police in Jogulamba Gadwal District, to issue a safety warning. All police units have been instructed to stay alert.
Heavy rains in Maharashtra and Karnataka have caused significant water inflows into these rivers. Consequently, the Jurala Project has opened 10 gates, releasing 1,30,000 cusecs of water. Additionally, the Tungabhadra River is sending 1,20,000 cusecs downstream into the Srisailam Reservoir.
Riverside village residents should be on high alert due to rising water levels. The District SP has urged fishermen, cattle and sheep herders, and farmers to avoid entering the rivers.
To protect the public, police officers have been instructed to set up necessary safety measures in riverside areas. They will use loudspeakers to update and warn residents about the flood conditions.
These steps aim to prevent any loss of life or damage to property in at-risk zones. The District Police Department is working closely with local authorities to handle any emergencies.
Residents are asked to work with police and district officials, avoid dangerous activities near the rivers, and follow official updates for further guidance.
