In Gadwal, MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy emphasized the importance of planting trees to ensure a healthy environment for future generations. This message was shared during the Vanamahotsavam celebrations organized by the District Forest Department at the Government Medical College, Gadwal.
District Collector B.M. Santosh joined the MLA in planting saplings, encouraging officials, students, and locals to take part in environmental protection. The government promotes greenery through Vanamahotsavam to balance the climate and provide clean air for future generations. Mohan Reddy urged everyone to see tree planting as a social responsibility, especially since Gadwal has limited forest cover. He called for extensive planting and careful monitoring of saplings in villages.
Collector B.M. Santosh stressed that the Telangana government considers Vanamahotsavam a prestigious initiative, urging citizens to plant and protect trees. He believes this should become a people’s movement, where each individual inspires at least ten others to participate, spreading awareness widely.
He revealed that of the 15 lakh saplings allocated to Gadwal, 88% of the target has been met. He urged departments to take advantage of the abundant rains from July to September to meet their planting goals and ensure saplings are well cared for.
District Forest Officer K.A.V.S. Prasad Reddy, IFS, announced that the Telangana government aims to plant 18 crore saplings statewide. In Gadwal, specific targets include 6.8 lakh for Rural Development, 2 lakh for Horticulture, 3.6 lakh for Panchayat Raj, and 6 lakh for Municipalities. Significant progress is being made, with 100 trees planted at the Medical College campus during the event.
