Gadwal: Lakshmi Narayana, the District Additional Collector, highlighted the importance of using clay Ganesh idols to help protect the environment.
On Tuesday, the District Backward Classes Development Department organized an event at the IDOC premises. During this event, 2,000 clay Ganesh idols made by the Telangana State Pollution Control Board were handed out.
The Additional Collector explained that immersing Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols in water bodies releases harmful chemicals. These chemicals pollute water and harm aquatic life. In contrast, clay idols break down naturally and do not harm the environment.
He urged officials to distribute clay idols not only in cities but also in rural areas. He encouraged everyone to support environmental protection and celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in an eco-friendly manner.
Additional Collector Narsinga Rao, AO Bhupal Reddy, SC Corporation ED Nishita, BC Welfare Officer Akbar Pasha, and Civil Supplies Department District Manager Vimala were present, along with other staff and participants.
