Gadwal is facing serious allegations about millers illegally selling CMR rice. These millers are accused of diverting rice meant for poor families, with claims that political support is enabling their actions.
At a press event hosted by the Nadigadda Rights Protection Committee, District Chairman Gongalla Ranjith Kumar called for immediate action against these millers. He urged authorities to file cases under the PDS Act. Despite a few vigilance raids, he stressed the need for thorough inspections of all mills to uncover corruption involving crores of rupees.
Ranjith Kumar also alleged that some civil supply officials are working with the millers. This collusion reportedly allows the illegal sale and recycling of rice, depriving the poor of their due share. He accused the millers of withholding rice intended for the government while authorities turn a blind eye.
The District Chairman claimed that political influence is aiding blacklisted millers. These millers, who failed to deliver rice last year, are still getting new rice consignments. This points to a large-scale corruption network.
Ranjith Kumar stated that a petition will be submitted to the District Collector for a comprehensive investigation. The committee plans to take the issue to state authorities, seeking a special action plan to stop the illegal activities and ensure rice reaches poor families.
Key figures at the press conference included District Convener Bucchi Babu, district leaders Venkatramulu, Dharur Mandal President Nettempadu Govindu, Mandal Vice Presidents Adavi Anjaneyulu and Maldakal, along with other mandal leaders like Lakshmana K.P. Ramakrishna and Venkatesh.
