Warangal: Revuri Prakash Reddy has emerged as a strong leader in the Narsampet constituency by ending the long-standing dominance of Maddikayala Omkar of the MCPI (U). Omkar was a popular figure who won the Narsampet seat five times in a row from 1972 to 1994. Despite Omkar’s influence, Revuri was able to defeat him in 1994 during his first attempt on a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ticket. He continued his success by winning the seat again in 1999 and 2009.
In 2019, facing difficulties within the TDP in Telangana, Revuri left the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, as political dynamics shifted ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections, Revuri decided to join the Congress Party. His decision was influenced by his old friend, TPCC President A Revanth Reddy.
By the time Revuri joined Congress, the party had already chosen Donti Madhava Reddy as its candidate for the Narsampet constituency. As a result, Revuri was asked to run for the neighboring Parkal seat. He won this seat convincingly, defeating the BRS candidate, Challa Dharma Reddy.
At 68 years old, Revuri is a seasoned politician who has contested seven elections. He is currently one of the Panel Speakers in the Telangana Assembly. Revuri hails from Keshwapur village in Warangal district and began his political journey with the Telugu Desam Party under the mentorship of former Sirpur MLA K V Narayana Rao. Throughout his career, Revuri has remained honest and free from controversy, consistently showing a strong desire to serve the people.
Revuri is focused on the development of the Parkal constituency. He believes that during the BRS regime, the people lost confidence in the government due to its leaders’ focus on exploiting natural resources. Revuri is confident that the Congress will restore faith among the people by fulfilling its election promises. “Development of Parkal constituency is high on my agenda,” Revuri says.
