Warangal: MLA Donthi Madhava Reddy, who represents the Narsampet constituency, is often seen as a dissident leader within the Congress party. He is known for being a private and independent individual, and he is not fond of meeting with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Recently, even though Madhava Reddy was very close to the venue of the Chief Minister’s meeting at the Hanumakonda Collectorate, he chose not to attend. Before the upcoming Assembly elections, he also showed little interest in organizing Revanth’s padayatra (a political march) in the Narsampet constituency. Because of this, Revanth had to bypass Narsampet during his journey to Mahabubabad. According to party sources, the 63-year-old MLA, who sees himself as a true Congressman, is upset with Revanth for not including him in the State Cabinet.
Madhava Reddy began his political career in 1981 as the sarpanch (village leader) of Ameenabad in Chennaraopet mandal. He later served as the chairman of the District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) from 1995 to 2000. Despite losing two elections to Revuri Prakash Reddy of the Telugu Desam Party in 1999 and 2009, he eventually won the Narsampet seat for the first time in 2014.
He won the 2014 election as an independent candidate after Congress did not give him a ticket, but he later became an associate member of the party. Although he lost the next election in 2018 to TRS’ Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, he made a comeback by winning the seat again in 2023.
