Hyderabad: The Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), K Ilambarithi, has stressed the need to act quickly on complaints raised during the Prajavani public grievance programme. He instructed officials to treat these complaints as a priority and take prompt action to resolve them. He also advised that people who file complaints should be informed once their issues are dealt with.
The Commissioner added that citizens should not have to attend multiple public hearings for the same issue. Instead, authorities should work towards resolving the problem quickly. If a complaint cannot be resolved right away, officials must clearly explain the reason for the delay to the person who filed it.
During the recent Prajavani programme, GHMC received a total of 193 complaints. Of these, 82 were submitted at the GHMC headquarters. The Town Planning Department received the highest number with 32 complaints. The Tax Department received nine, the Sanitation Department six, the Engineering Department five, and three complaints each went to the Administration, Health, and Land Acquisition and Estate Departments. Two complaints each were received by the Projects, UBD, Lakes, Electrical, Finance, and UCD departments. One complaint each was filed with the Advertisement, Vigilance, and CPRO departments. Additionally, one request was received through the Prajavani phone-in programme and was sent to the concerned department.
In GHMC’s six zones, 111 complaints were filed. The most came from Kukatpally zone with 40 complaints, followed by Serilingampally with 22, LB Nagar with 21, Secunderabad with 18, Charminar with nine, and Khairtabad with one complaint.
Several senior officials, including Additional Commissioners Venugopal, Chandrakanth Reddy, Pankaja, Venugopal Reddy, and Yadagiri Rao, attended the programme. Officers from different departments were also present.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Disaster Response, Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) held its own public grievance event and received 52 complaints. According to the HYDRA Commissioner, most of these complaints were about layouts located on the outskirts of the city.
