Hyderabad: Many young people in Hyderabad who applied for the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme were upset after officials at GHMC ward offices refused to accept their applications. Although more than 1.3 lakh applications were submitted online, the officers said the deadline had already passed.
The Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme is meant to help youth from poor backgrounds by offering up to Rs 4 lakh in financial aid, including a subsidy and a bank loan. Applicants are required to apply online and then submit their forms at local ward offices or finance corporations. However, when they visited the offices, officers turned them away, stating that the last date to submit forms was April 14.
One applicant, Prashant, shared his frustration. He said that both the ward office and finance corporation refused to accept his online acknowledgment form. He questioned how new applicants were still able to get beneficiary IDs online if the deadline had really passed. He urged higher officials to step in and allow already-submitted applications to be accepted.
According to the rules, after applying online, candidates must also submit their forms in person at the relevant offices. However, public holidays like Ugadi, Ramzan, Jagjivan Ram Jayanti, the second Saturday, and Ambedkar Jayanti all happened around the deadline on April 14. This led to delays and disruptions in government services.
Mohammed Ahmed, the minority spokesperson for the TDP, pointed out that many people couldn’t complete their submissions due to holidays and technical problems. He said the government website was often slow or crashed, making it hard for applicants to finish the process.
Another applicant, Mohammed Aleemuddin from Bahadurpura mandal, also expressed his disappointment. He said he submitted his application online before the deadline but couldn’t visit the office in person because of public holidays. He believes that officers should at least check the online submission date before rejecting any applications.
So far, over 67,321 applications were received by the Minorities Finance Corporation. The BC/EBC Finance Corporations got 34,719 applications. The SC Finance Corporation received 26,260, and the ST Finance Corporation received 3,248 applications.
