Hyderabad: On Monday, Health Minister Damodar Raja Narsimha instructed officials to ensure the new Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) Hospitals and Warangal Super Specialty Hospital have top-quality furniture and equipment. Suppliers must also maintain these items.
In a meeting at the TGMSIDC Office in Koti, the Minister emphasized using the latest technology to provide excellent patient care. He urged officials to consult doctors about equipment used in leading hospitals and consider similar advanced models. Furniture should meet the needs of doctors, staff, and patients, especially with the expected high number of visitors.
The Minister insisted that all items should have warranties, and suppliers must uphold maintenance duties. He stated, “No equipment should be left unused.”
On the topic of medicines, the Minister checked if essential medicines were in stock and advised maintaining enough supplies to handle seasonal diseases. He ordered TGMSIDC to keep a three-month stock of medicines to prevent shortages.
For diagnostic facilities, the Minister stressed that Platelet Separation Machines must work properly in all hospitals. Diagnostic centers should offer a full range of tests and scans, ensuring no patient needs to go elsewhere.
Last year, the government set up new medical stores in each district and allocated funds for building permanent structures. The Minister urged the quick start and completion of these constructions. He mentioned that CT scan machines are available in all medical colleges, and funds are approved for MRI machines where needed. He directed the fast procurement and installation of MRI machines.
Finally, the Minister instructed the Health Secretary to create a state-level system for a Centralised Biomedical Engineering Monitoring Unit. A central unit with five engineers will be established at the TGMSIDC Head Office. He emphasized that hospital superintendents must ensure all equipment is functional.
